Can Sihr Affect Our Prayers?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Reported by Safiyyah (bint Abu Ubaid) (RA) that one of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) narrated: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: ‘Who consults a soothsayer and believes what he says, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days.'(Muslim)

If this is so, then how can we ascertain if we have been affected by Sihr. Is there any way to find out without jeopardizing our Salaah ?

A: A soothsayer is with reference to a person who talks of the future. As for the one who cures you from sihr etc. he is only doing a treatment.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
