Overcoming Bad Dreams and Sleep Anxiety: Tips for Peaceful Living

Q: From the past few days I don’t know why I get bad dreams and I get scared and my heart starts beating fast and I am not able to sleep in the night and in the morning. I keep getting scared. Please tell me how do I overcome this and get rid of this so that I live peacefully?

A: Refrain from anything that is doubtful or haraam e.g. doubtful company, food, places that one is not suppose to go to, anti-Islamic literature e.g. looking at novels, magazines, internet, T.V, etc. After your five daily Salaah and before retiring to bed recite the four “quls” and “Aayatul Kursi”. Commence the recitation of Fazaaile Aamaaal, Fazaaile Sadaqaat and Fazaaile Durood morning and evening. Insha Allah this condition you are experiencing will go away.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
