Forbidding the wrong

Q: My wife and I assist with the cooking at functions for which we receive remuneration. At times the functions are un-Islaamic (engagements) and there is open violation of the Shari’ah (intermingling). We are in no way involved with the function. We only assist with the cooking and kitchen. Is it permissible for us to assist with the cooking and is the money earned halaal?

A: If you are only in the kitchen, then your income will be halaal. However where you are able to discourage and forbid the wrong, then you should do so.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
