Q: Is there any limit to making profit in Islam? I have a shop.
A: If the sale items and commodities one is dealing in are part of the necessities of life (e.g. bread, milk, vegetables and other food items, etc) and they are easily found available to the common person in the place one is residing in, then one may price one’s item at any price one wishes, since no harm will be caused to the people. However if there is a shortage of these type of items and people are in need, then for one to overprice these commodities thereby making it difficult for the people and taking advantage of the situation is incorrect.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
