Zakaat on investments that are in liquid form

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Please advise me on the following concerning paying of zakaat. I have invested capital in a partnership which provides a service. There is no stock which is purchased for selling. Do I pay zakat on the full capital investment as well as profits earned or only on profits earned?

A: If there is any capital that is in liquid form then zakaat is payable on it as well as the profits that are generated.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
