Rasing the index finger in Tashahhud

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My question is regarding the raising of the index finger and the motion of the right hand during salah.

  1. Is the finger to be lowered at “wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan”
  2. Is the right hand to be kept closed from the moment at which the index finger is raised, up until Durood Ibraheem (Alayhi-salaam) or right until tasleem?

A: No. At the time of illallah.

Till the end of salaam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
