Taking permission to get married to a second wife

Q: For a man to marry a second wife, does he need to ask permission to his first wife?

A: No.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

فَانكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ النِّسَاءِ مَثْنَى وَثُلَاثَ وَرُبَاعَ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا فَوَاحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَلَّا تَعُولُوا ﴿النساء: ٣﴾
