Q: Could I please be informed as to the fatwah of eating products originating from companies associated with Senomyx (a bio tech company which uses cloned cells from aborted foetuses) like pepsi co, nestle etc.
A: The principle of Shari’ah is that if the ingredients contained in any food product is from impure or impermissible substance, then consuming such a food product will be impermissible. We do not supervise these companies, hence we are not in a position to issue a specific ruling regarding their products. If you wish you may refer to the certifying bodies viz. Sanha, etc.
