Q: My cousin and her fiance in the presence of two females and one male (the first shaahid female is my cousin brothers wife and the second female is her cousin and the boy is also her cousin) did Ijaab and qabul without khutba. Is this nikah valid?
A: The sunnah method of performing the nikah is that the nikah should be performed in public (preferably in the Musjid). Similarly a girl in the matter of nikah should consult her parents and not independently perform her own nikah. However the nikah is valid.
