Engineering of a temple

Q: I would like to know if this is permissible:

If a Muslim employee works for an engineering company, and the company is employed to do the engineering (beams, slabs, columns, foundations etc) for e.g. a temple. The Muslim employee is tasked with designing the structure by his boss. Would he be responsible for the sin that go on within the temple?

Another situation, if a Muslim owns the engineering company and is not working for a company and someone approaches him for this task, would this now be sinful?

If the above are sinful, would this change if the building was not the actual temple but a building on the same land that has rooms, dormitories, toilets etc. for the use of occupants of the temple?

A:

  1. The Muslim employee should ask the company to excuse him from such work.
  2. It is impermissible for a Muslim to aid or support in the construction of a church, temple, etc. or anything which is associated with disbelief in any way.
  3. As above.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
