Confirming the Name Umair/Umayr: Meaning and Transliteration

Q: I would like to confirm the name “Umair or Umayr”. This would be after the first Ambassador of Islam Mus’ab ibn Umair (Radiyallahu Anhu), who was sent to Medina by Nabi Mohammed (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Can you please confirm if this meaning is correct and what is the correct transliteration spelling, Umair or Umayr?

A:

  1. This is correct. The first person Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) sent after the second Bay’at-e-Aqabah was, the son of Umayr i.e. Musa’b (Radiyallahu Anhu) to teach Deen to the people of Madinah.
  2. The correct spelling of this name is Umayr.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
