Head Covering During Azaan: Obligatory for Muslim Women at Home?

Q: Is it obligatory for a female to cover her head during the time of ‘Azaan’ when she is at home? If not then why muslim women act like this?

A: Women are commanded to cover their hair at all times, especially at the time of Azaan. It is reported in the Ahaadith that a woman whose hair is not covered, the malaaikah do not come close to her. Furthermore, Shari’at commands that respect be shown to the symbols and salient features of Deen. Hence, covering the hair for a women at the time of Azaan is in keeping with the Aadaab of Deen.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
