Unestablished practices

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: There is a certain person who has a gift, he takes your name and your mothers name and uses the Qur’an shareef in a certain method and then tells you your conditions and problems. Is this ok and true?

A: Informing people about their conditions and problems through using the Qur’an in a certain method is an unestablished practice in Deen. Similarly, using the Qur’an in a specific way and creating a false impression that the information one is giving is sourced from the Qur’an is totally misleading. The purpose for the Qur’an being revealed is that one recites it and seeks guidance from it.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
