Q: Great virtues are mentioned in the Ahadith for praying 4 rakaats after Zuhr and Isha.
Should one perform these apart from the confirmed 2 rakaats sunnah that are prayed after Zuhr and Isha i.e. first 2 rakaats and then 4 rakaats? And these 4 rakaats should they be prayed with one taslim or 2 by 2 rakaats?
A: In our understanding it is the two sunnats and two nafls that come after the Zuhr and the nafl that may come after the sunnats of Esha.
عن علي قال : كان النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم يصلي قبل الظهر أربعا وبعدها ركعتين (جامع الترمذي رقم 424)
عن أم حبيبة قالت : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من صلى قبل الظهر أربعا وبعدها أربعا حرمه الله على النار (جامع الترمذي رقم 427)
