Completing the Takbeer before the Imaam in Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

  1. If when following the Imaam, the Imaam says allahu akbar to go to sajdah and you say it only when he says it but finished before he did. Is the salaah accepted? An is this for all takbeer and salaam?
  2. If you proceed for sajdah only after the Imaam or same time but you are there before he is. Is the salaah valid?

Bismillaah

A:

  1. The salaah is valid. However, it is not appropriate to complete the takbeer for sajdah before the takbeer of the imaam. This will apply to all other takbeers that are in the salaah. However, if one completes the takbeer-e-tahreema before the imaam could complete his, then such a salaah is not valid. If the muqtadee has said the word salaam before the imaam ended the word salaam, then this is wrong.
  2. As above.
