Charging to do an EFT for someone

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A friend of mine needed an eft into his account for a million rand to avoid bank charges and he would give me cash. I told him it is going to cost me couple of calls and petrol and I would charge him 5000 rand for my troubles. Is the 5000 rand halaal for me. If not then in future how do I structure these kind of deals?

Bismillaah

A: The safest route is that you only take that amount that you had spent. For example, one telephone call is approximately five rands, and you made three phone calls. So, you take fifteen rands for the three calls you made. And the petrol may have been twenty rands for which you take that amount. You rather take this amount as this will be the safest method.
