Cautioning the congregation saying “In holidays we are not Muslims” sarcastically

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: An Imaam, while delivering a Jumuah Bayaan, mentioning about holidays said sarcastically: “In holidays we are not Muslims”, trying to tell the congregation that we should wake up and no matter holiday or not we have to fulfill the commands of Allah. What is the situation of his Imaan?

Bismillaah

A: Apparently he was cautioning them regarding adopting double standards i.e. when they are at home, they  conduct like believers and when they are on holiday they regard themselves free and absolved of all Deeni obligations, thus they conduct like disbelievers. Instead they should maintain the standard of obedience and submission at all times.
