How far a woman can travel by herself?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: How far a woman can travel by herself? Since now a day everyone has driving license and this American society makes everyone travel a lot of miles every day. What if two or more women traveling together by themselves and if someone has a male non adult mehram with her, does that fulfill the requirement for all or all of them are supposed to have a mehram with them?

Bismillaah

A: According to our ulama it is not permissible for a woman to travel a distance of safr without a mahram. (Ahsan-ul-Fatawaa, vol 8, p.29 – Shaami)
