Folding the Pants above the Ankles at the Time of Salaah

Q: Should one fold his pants in order to expose his ankles at the time of Salaah?

A: Folding the pants at the time of Salaah is better than allowing it to flow below the ankles during Salaah. However, it should be known that the pants should be kept above the ankles at all times (during Salaah as well as out of Salaah). Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “On the day of resurrection, Allah Ta’aala will not look (with mercy) at those who allowed their garments to hang below their ankles out of pride.”

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, that portion of the garment, which hangs below the ankles, would burn in the fire (of Jahannum).
