Giving Fidyah for Each Fast due to Breastfeeding

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My wife is 5 months pregnant and is unable to fast. When the baby is born, she will be breastfeeding, Insha Allah which would make difficult for her to make up the 30 fasts before the next Ramadan. Can she give out Fidyah in this case? If so, what is the monetary value (roughly) of the daily Fidyah amount?

A: She will make up for the missed fast whenever she regains her strength. She does not have to give the fidyah if she has made the qadha of the missed fasts.
