Mufti erring in a fatwa

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a person refers to a Mufti for a ruling and the Mufti errs in issuing the ruling, what should one do?

Bismillaah

A: If the mufti had erred and the fatwa he issued opposed the Qur’an, Hadith or the consensus of the mazhab one subscribes to, then when one is informed of the correct ruling, he should immediately rectify the situation and follow the correct ruling. He should not remain on the wrong.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
