Q: I gave my zakaat to a lady to purchase a blender to start her business after she informed me that she was eligible to collect Zakaat. Later I found out from her that she used the money for unnecessary things and had no intention of furthering her business. She still has the balance of the money. Do I take the balance and give it to someone who is deserving of Zakaat?
A: Your zakaat is discharged. It is not permissible for you to take the money back from her.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
