Is Investing in the Share Market Halal Despite Company Debts and Interest?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it halal to invest money in the share market because almost all companies have a debt and/or they invest their money in to debt on which they earn/pay interest. Though the company’s base dealing is in halaal.

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible for one to invest in any company on condition that the company’s main business is halaal. If one is aware of the company dealing in something against Shariah, then it is better for one to give out a certain percentage of the profits one receives in charity.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
