Overcoming Gayism: My Struggle and Search for a Solution

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to ask that how can I get rid of gayism. I have been practising it for a long time. I feel bad when I do this and I want to get out of this too. I have performed umrah as well but yet I am unable to keep myself away from this sin. I for few days or months get detached with these activities but then again get into it. I really need some solution to it because I feel really frightened about the aakhirat.

Bismillaah

A: Get yourself involved in some deeni activity like the tableeghi jamaat etc. Abandon all types of incorrect company, whether incorrect people, literature, magazines, websites, radio programs etc. Ponder over the purpose of your creation which is the worship of Allah and conforming to His commands, and think of how filthy and despicable the act of homosexuality is, that not even animals behave in this manner. This is abnormal behaviour. Beg Allah’s forgiveness and cry and repent over your sins. Whenever, thoughts of this nature come to mind recite ‘laa howla wa laa quwwata illaa billahil `aliyyil azheem’ and then think of the punishment that had come upon the people of Loot (alaihis salaam) who were also involved in the evil and despicable act of homosexuality. Jibreel (alaihis salaam) had lifted the entire town up to the skies with a single wing and turned them over and they were then showered with stones. Further, adopt the following daily programme:

(1) Start off with the ta`leem of Fazaa’il-e-A`maal, Fazaa’il-e-Sadaqqt and Bahishti Zewar for approximately 15 minutes in the mornings and evenings.

(2) Recite some portion of the Qur’aan.

(3) Do zikr of the kalimah laa ilaaha illallah, Durood Shareef and istighfaar.

(4) Make a du`aa at the end of each session, begging Allah Ta`ala for His special help, mercy and forgiveness for oneself and the rest of the ummat.

A very effective thing also is to dedicate five minutes in the mornings and evenings to seriously think of death and the things that go with death.

May Allah Ta`ala make it easy for you.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
