Speaking to non-mahrams

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Is a widow whose husband has passed away allowed to speak to a non-mahram who has come for taziyat, if there is no fear of Fitnah?

2. Is there any sin if a widow speaks to a non-mahram whilst in iddah?

Bismillaah

A:

1. The non-Mahram should be avoided at all times, whether he has come at the time of iddat or out of iddat

2. When it is wrong to speak then obviously a wrong will amount to a sin.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
