Is Private Security and Dogs Haraam in High-Crime Countries?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If things such as insurance are haraam (due to tempting fate) then does taking security measures such as private security and dogs also haraam even if you are living in a country where crime is a regular occurrence?

Bismillaah

A: Permission has been granted in the Hadith to keep dogs for security purposes.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
