Is Listening to Music Haram in Islam?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) himself allowed some musical instruments and yes I know that listening to songs is haram in Islam but I want to know that is listening to music also haraam? For e.g. if I listen to old classical music, is it haraam? And if it is haraam, then what is the reason?
