Is Chatting with Your Fiancé Before Marriage Allowed in Islam?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My question is that I am engaged and I haven’t spoken to my fiancé before engagement and after engagement two weeks later we started talking on chat not on call or face to face but in limits nothing as such which creates temptation or so, only normal talks or few jokes that are not cheap in anyway even if we meet in front of my family or his, I do proper hijaab and cover myself properly. I wanted to make sure is it allowed or not? I have done search on this topic and I found that within limits it is allowed but still just want to be double sure.

Bismillaah

A: All forms of premarital communication and relationship is haraam and impermissible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
