Permissible Listening: Anaasheed and Nazms in Compliance with Shar’iah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible to listen to anaasheed, nazms etc if it does not have any musical instrument involved and follows the rules of Shar’iah i.e. no singing by women. Also if it is not used for entertainment/pleasure and is not interfering in anyway with our ma’mulaat or daily routine?

Bismillaah

A: Ulama have explained that songs that are sung according to musical notes should be avoided.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
