Step-by-Step Sunnah Nikkah: Requirements and Witnesses

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am getting married soon, Insha Allah. Please provide me with the step-by-step sunnah way of nikkah and what is required to make the nikaah valid. Also, what is the difference between a wali and waqeel, and who would suffice as a witness for both bride and groom?

Bismillaah

A: Refer to the attached book.

The wakeel is a representative and wali is a guardian.

If the nikaah is done in a musjid then all those attending the nikaah are witnesses.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
