What to recite when entering and leaving the business place

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Please give a dua to recite when entering and leaving our business.

Bismillaah

A:

1. The following dua is recorded in the Hadith to be recited at the time when entering the business place.

Hazrat Buraydah (Radiyallahu Anhu) narrates that whenever Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) entered the marketplace (bussiness place), he would recite the following dua:

In the name of Allah. O Allah, I beg of You the good of this market and what it contains; and I seek Your protection from the evil of this market and what it contains. O Allah, I seek Your protection from indulging in a false oath or becoming involved in bad bargaining (incurring a loss while trading).

2. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) had taught the Sahaaba to recite ten verses of the Qur’an when returning from the marketplace (bussiness place).

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbaas (Radiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: Is anyone of you unable to recite ten aayaat from the Qur’an when he returns from the marketplace due to which Allah Ta’ala will record for him one good deed for each aayah that he recites.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
