Coeducation in Islam: A Modern Dilemma

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Coeducation is allowed in Islam? There is no good university where there is no coeducation and it is also the demand of nowadays to study in high level institutions. So what should we do now?

Bismillaah

A: The higher level for a woman is that she remains at home and follow the way of Hadhrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu anha), the queen of Jannah. The higher levels that you are talking of is the higher level of the kuffaar. These higher levels are not at all high in the sight of Allah. Rather, they are the highest levels of immodesty and embarrassment.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
