Avoiding Wrong Gatherings

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Assalamualaikum,
I am a sister writing from London.
I have previously learnt regarding Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat, but the rest of my family are Ahle Sunnah. This is effecting me in many ways as it is disliked if I was to go to gatherings of Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaat and I do not receive any benefits spiritually through their gatherings. How is it possible to avoid going to Milaad e Nabi etc gatherings? How can I uplift my spirituality when I do not have contact with correct people and good examples?
Jazakallah

Answer:

Firstly you should sit in the weekly gatherings of ladies Ta’leem that takes place in your suburb and invite other ladies to join you as well. If however there is no Ta’leem taking place in your suburb then you should set aside a day and time for Ta’leem and invite other sisters and ladies to join you.

The Ta’leem should be done in the following manner; firstly try and read the 40 Durood on Nabi [S.A.W] which are commonly available in a booklet form and also found at back of the virtues of Durood by ML Zakariyya. The Durood should preferably be read audibly as long as there are no strange males in the vicinity. After completing the Durood you should read from the book of ML Zakariyya called FADHAAIL A’MAAL taking care to read at least one excerpt from all the books contained therein [the above mentioned book is a compilation of 6 books]. If you can acquire a copy of MA’AARIFUL Hadith by Ml. Manzoor Nu’maani and include it in your Ta’leem it will hold tremendous benefits.

Should anyone argue with or oppose you then do not be drawn into an argument or debate. Rather say that this is a personal matter and choice and further instruct them to start reading the above mentioned books as well and then draw a conclusion of whether it is correct or not.

By doing this Insha-Allah your surroundings will soon conform to your ideals and beliefs. Don’t lose courage and don’t be overwhelmed, rather perform 2 Rak’aats Salaatul Haajat daily and make Du’aa thereafter for the guidance of everyone. And start the Ta’leem as soon as possible. May Allah Ta’ala make it easy for you, AAMEEN

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
