Time of Sehri

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. How much time before dawn does the sehri time START? Is there more sawaab in eating sehri near dawn, that is delayed sehri, rather than eating it one hour before?

A. The time for Sehri lasts until the break of dawn. As soon as the break of dawn enters, the Sehri time comes to an end. This means that you must stop eating before the break of dawn enters. It is more rewarding to take Sehri closer to dawn. However, each person must estimate the time he/she takes to eat the Sehri in the morning. Sufficient time should be given to eat comfortable (not in a rushing manner) so that one can end his Sehri a little before the break of dawn. One must also ensure that he does not delay too much, to the extent that he finds himself eating at the time of break of dawn.

And Allah knows best.
