Ruling of Second Jamaat

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulihsan.com

Ref: sal007/07

August 2007

Q: What is the ruling regarding a group of local musallees who perform a second jamaat after the main jamaat is over in the musjid. This second jamaat is performed in the sahn of a proper musjid.

A:

Performing a second jamaat in the Sahn of the musjid is not advisable and it should be discouraged if it begins to decrease the importance of the main jamaat, and if it is due to indolence or negligence in reaching the musjid on time for jamaat salah. The virtue of the main jamaat is greater.

N.B. This rule applies to those Masaajid in which 5 times Salah is performed regularly. Those Masaajid that are situated in airports, stations, etc are excluded from this rule.
