How long can a recently converted Muslim sister remain with her ex-non-Muslim husband

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

How long can a recently converted Muslim sister remain with her ex-non-Muslim husband

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

When a non-Muslim wife converts to Islam and her husband is still a non-Muslim her marriage will come to an end after the passing of three menstruation cycles. (Hidayah p.327 v.2)

After the passing of three cycles she has now become unlawful for her previous husband. They would be considered as non-mahram for each other and it will be necessary for the now reverted sister to look to move out of her ex-husband house.
