Answer

Q. Can the mutakif leave the masjid to wash his hands for eating?

A. It is not permissible for the mutakif to leave the masjid to wash his hands for eating. One can ask someone to bring a bowl of water to wash his hands. (Ahsanul Fatawa p.502 v.4)

However, if a person leaves the masjid with the intention of doing wudhu, then whilst doing the wudhu he can wash his hands. (Ahsanul Fatawa p.500 v.4)

Q. Can mutakif talk to his family over the telephone?

A. It will be permissible to talk to one’s family over the phone as long as the conversation is kept short and concise and he talks what is necessary. (Fatawa Mahmoodiyah p.508 v.1 & Masaail Itiikaf p.75)

Q. When a person does wudhu and enters the masjid, should he read tahiyatul wudu first or tahiyatul masjid?

A. A mutakif should read the tahiyatul wudu every time he does his wudu and enters the masjid. Tahiyatul masjid can be read once throughout the day.(Fatawa Rahimiyah p.208 v.5)

Generally it is preferable to do tahiyatul wudu first as the wudu was done first.

Q. Is it permissible to teach Quran and Hadith in the Mosque?

A. Yes it is permissible. (Fatawa Hindiyyah p.320 v.5)

Q. Is it permissible to read the Holy Quran in a loud tone in the masjid?

A. It is permissible to read the Holy Quran in a loud voice in the Masjid as long as other worshippers are not being disturbed. (Raddul Muhtar p.434 v.2)
