Intention to go to Tabligh Jamaat

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham
I am planning to go in Tabligh Jamaat. I read that few members of this group made overstatements. Please let me know
those statements (if possible all) so that I can avoid those things.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

The Tablighi Jamaat movement is based on a principle that is a collective responsibility of the Muslims.  Allah (SWA) in the Holy Quran has said ‘You are the best of Nations, involved for Mankind, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is evil’.   (Surah Al Imran v.110)

Alhamdulillah spending time in Jamaat it is a very good thing and Inn sha Allah you will be rewarded by Allah (SWA). Just remember things which are unlawful in Islam will also stay unlawful when you are spending time in Jamaat. Therefore, if any brothers make comments or do things which are against the teachings of the Shariah then you should try and stop them or the very least stay away from them. Some brothers have complained to me that some Tablighi brothers treat those not in the Jamaat as inferior to them. This is considered as pride and is clearly against the teachings of Islam.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud narrates that the Apostle of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) observed: “He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter Paradise.” A person (amongst his hearers) said: Verily a person loves that his dress should be fine, and his shoes should be fine. He (the Prophet) remarked: “Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people.” (Sahih Muslim: 34)
