In Salah what is the correct way to recite Allahuma Atina or Rabbana Atina

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Assalaamu’alaikum dear mufti sahib, I have a quick question which is that when sitting in salah in the last raka’at, what is the correct way of reciting the dua’a, is it ‘rabbana athinaa fid dunyaa…’ or is it ‘allahumma rabbana athinaa fid dunyaa…’ or is it permissible to recite either?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

It is Sunnah to recite duas in the final sitting after the Durud Ibrahim which resembles the words of the Qur’an or the transmitted ahadith. (Nurul Idah p.71)

Regarding your question, you can recite Rabbana Atina… as it is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Baqarah v.201 or you can also read Allahuma Atina… as mentioned in the hadith of Sahih Bukhari.
