Is it allowed according to Islamic Shariah to celebrate Chilla and Chatti after the birth of a child?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Please tell me whether it is allowed or not to celebrate Chilla and Chatti the functions performed after the birth of a child after 40 and 21 days as per Islamic Shariah.

Answer

(Fatwa: 521/512/N=1434)

Such types of customs and traditions do not exist in Islam. Hence if these rituals are performed as a part of religion then it shall be unlawful and innovation (bid’ah). But if they are not considered a part of religion but they include non-Shariah things then too they shall be unlawful. These ongoing Chilla and Chatti etc contain non-Shariah elements; hence it should be avoided.
