What is the importance of standing on the left side of the imaginary line when making intention of tawaf?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Is it necessary to make intention of tawaf standing just on the left side of the imaginary line from green light on Masjid Haram to Hajr-e-Aswad? Thereafter what is the place of kissing Hajr-e-Aswad at the starting of each cycle? Is it any wrong kissing standing at left or right side of the above said imaginary line?

Answer

(Fatwa: 480/484/B=1434)

Yes, before the fixed line i.e. at left side one should make intention of tawaf and in order to kiss Hajr-e-Aswad one should reach the fixed line and kiss Hajr-e-Aswad. At the time of kissing Hajr-e-Aswad one should face Hajr-e-Aswad i.e. should turn his face towards that direction. If at the time of facing towards it one stands right or left side of the line then it is allowable, but one should correctly turn his face toward Hajr-e-Aswad. The fixed line is drawn only for easiness.
