Is it permissible to eat non-Muslim’s food brought to the workplace?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have a friend who is non-Muslim and eat non halal food including pork at home but as he know I am Muslim he cooks halal food and brings it at workplace when I am working and I as per my understanding it is not desirable to eat at non-Muslim’s place but as he brings it at workplace and cooks halal meet especially for me it becomes very difficult to say no. Can you please tell me is it permissible to eat that food and if no is it ok to tell them on their face that Islam does not permit us to eat non-Muslim’s food?

Answer

(Fatwa: 1235/815/H=1433)

If it is probable that he arranges halal food for you but there is strong probation that at the time of cooking both types of food the spoon which is is used for pork meat is also used for halal meat without cleaning or the utensil in which haram meat was cooked in the same utensil halal meat was also cooked without cleaning as it happens while cooking at home. Therefore, it is better as per the question mentioned above to excuse eating with him completely and if you feel it hard then say him that in future you will cook the food for you and for him and you both will eat it together. If he does not accept your proposal then you also reject his proposal, it is better and safer for you. In arranging separate eating and drinking there lies safety of your religion which should be given priority in comparison to friendship.
