Can I take a contract job with an insurance company through an intermediary broker?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am in IT field. I have a prospective job (contract job) awaiting in an insurance company. My work will involve designing/improving computer systems which will be used in their insurance business. Is it allowed to take on such contract? Please note that my contract will be with intermediatery broker (agent) and that agent will have contract with the company. The agent will be paid by the company and the agent with take a 5-10% cut from the rate I agree with the company and pay the rest to me.

(Fatwa: 435=427/B)

The insurance companies deal in interest and you will draw your salary from the same money. Therefore, this earning is not pure and it is better for you to avoid it.

And, if your work involves designing of pictures (of living beings) and writing interest accounts, then this employment and the earning will be Haram. Therefore, it is advised not to work in the insurance company, according to the Hadith: دع ما یریبک الی ما لا یریبک
