Is sajda-e-sahu wajib if I forgetfully recite ‘Darood-e-Ibrahim’ after ‘At-Tahiyyat’?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalaamu ‘alaikum Mufti Sahib! During the jama’at salaah of more than 2 rak’ats, sometimes I forgetfully start reciting ‘Darood-e-Ibrahim’ after ‘At-Tahiyyat’ of the 2nd rak’at until I realise myself or the Imam says ‘Allahu Akbar’ to get up for the 3rd rak’at. I’d like to know whether ‘Sajda-e-Sahu’ will be wajib on me and should I do ‘Sajda-e-Sahu’ after the Imam says the 1st salaam? Kindly provide me the fatwa for the following two cases: Case# 1: When I join the jama’at right from the 1st rak’at. Case# 2: When I miss the 1st rak’at and join from 2nd rak’at onwards.

Answer

(Fatwa: 239/192/L=1431)

In a congregational Salah, if a muqtadi commits a mistake requiring sajdah sahv (remedial prostrattion), it does not make sajdah sahv wajib on him. So, in the question mentioned above, if you forgetfully start reciting durood after tashahhud then sajdah sahv is not wajib on you. Yes, if any munfarid (a person performing salah individually) or imam forgetfully starts reciting darood Ibrahimi after at-tahiya?at in first sitting and goes up to (اللهم صل على محمد) then sajdah sahv becomes wajib on him.
