Apostate and Marriage

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za
Q: If the husband becomes a murtadd (apostate) then the nikaah (marriage) breaks. Is this considered a talaaq (divorce) or is it just a cancellation of the nikaah according to the shaafee and hanafi mazhab?

A:This is just a cancellation of the nikaah according to both mazhabs.
