Shortening Salaah and new Country of Residence

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: If one is intending on moving to another country as permanent resident can he shorten his salah for up to 15 days while as musafir (traveller) or not?

A: While being a Musaafir, he can shorten Salaah for as long as he is a Musaafir, even if it is more than fifteen days. Example: you are moving to South Africa and it takes you 20 days to get here (from the time you leave U.K.), then you will shorten for twenty days. When you reach your new place of residence you will cease to b e a Musaafir.
