Animals in Paradise

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: Are there any animals in jannah (Paradise) or jahannam (Hell)? I think (not sure) that I heard the imam of my local masjid say that there are animals in jannah and jahanam. I don’t know if it’s something we should believe or not.

A: It is recorded in Tafseer Khaazin that the dog of As’haabul Kahf will be in Jannah.

It is also mentioned in Sharh Al Ashbaah Wannadhaair that the camel of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam, the camel of Sayyidina Saalih Alayhis Salaam, the calf of Sayyidina Ebrahim Alayhis Salaam, the ram of Sayyidina Ismail Alayhis Salaam, the cow of Sayyidina Moosa Alayhis Salaam, the big fish (whale) of Sayyidina Yunus Alayhis Salaam, the mule of Sayyidina Uzayr Alayhis Salaam, the ant of Sayyidina Sulayman Alayhis Salaam, the bird (Hudhud) of Lady Bilqees and the dog of As’haabul Kahf will be in Jannah. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyah V3 P418/419).

Allah Ta’aala knows best.
