Making up for Missed Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za
Q: If you have not made salaah for a few years and are now very commited for the past few months is there anything I should do to make up for it as I feel guilty and want to do the right thing?

A: First Taubah (repentance) should be made for previously neglecting Salaah. Make a note of the amount of Salaah missed and begin fulfilling those missed Salaah. Qadhaa (fulfilment of all the missed Salaah) is compulsory. If you are unable to recall the exact amount of Salaah missed, then an estimate will also be valid.
