Tying Hair in Bun

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for women to wear their head covering in a certain  fashionable style where one attaches a hair clip to back of head so when wearing the scarf it resembles a “hump”?

A: If the hair is tied in a bun at the back of the head with a scarf wrapped the bun as is common among womenfolk,  then this is permissible. However, the bun is tied on top of the head, or the hair is made up into a style on the top of the head with a scarf covering the top, then this will resemble the hump that Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) prohibited. This hair-do will not be permissible.
