Q: If due to being late, I enter the masjid whilst the fard salaah of Fajr is being performed, and I join the jamaah, when should I perform the two sunnah: immediately after the fard or should I wait until after sunrise?

A. If possible to perform the Sunnats and still join the Jamaat, you should do so. If the fear is that by performing the Sunnats, Jamaat will be missed, then join the Jamaat without performing the Sunnats. In this case the Sunnats of Fajr will be performed as Qadhaa when the time of Ishraaq enters, which is approximately fifteen minutes after sunrise. It will not be performed immediately after the Fardh of Fajr.
